ABOUT ME
I started as a doctor to help people be well, not just get better.
Once I trained as a GP, it quickly became clear that the concepts of prevention, or lifestyle as a root cause to health get far less attention than is crucially needed. What I found was a system that was reactive, held back by scale, access and rarely built to fully support someone before they're already unwell. When I trained in lifestyle medicine, it was the first time a genuinely holistic approach to health was brought into focus for me as a field of clinical practice.
Alongside this, I found myself becoming increasingly connected to the concept of wellness. Travelling opened up a different way of thinking, I saw other approaches to health, ways of looking at wellbeing that traditional medicine rarely makes room for, and the real effect everyday lifestyle can have on both body and mind. This wasn't abstract for me, it's part of how I got through my own challenging times, and a big part of why I take it so seriously. But the answers and solutions were not in the consultation room, and like many others, I found myself looking elsewhere.
That's when I got my first real look at the wellness market itself, and it was already exploding. Some of what I saw was real inspiration; solid ideas backed by evidence, making peoples lives better. But a lot of it was not this. Instead it was noise, confusion, or claims with nothing behind them, wellness dressed up as science.
These experiences are what first got me asking a bigger question: what does it actually take to build evidence-led wellness and lifestyle health in this space?
As my own interest in prevention and wellness grew, so did the industry around it. Wellness, digital health and technology were moving fast, all promising more control over our own health than we'd ever had and a scalable way to change lives.
I quickly moved into that world. As a medical leader in consumer digital health, I helped launch one of the UK's first remote GLP-1 services for obesity at Numan, and as the Lifestyle Medicine Lead, focused on developing the holistic approach. From there, I became Head of Medical & Behavioural Science at Holland & Barrett, a global wellness retailer, building propositions for a business operating at real scale.
My time in wellness retail opened my thinking to the bigger picture. It shifted my focus from the individual consumer to wellness experiential design: not just products, but the built environment, spaces, homes and hospitality experiences, and how it all knits together end to end.
Now, I'm a GMC-registered GP with a Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine and Wellness Tourism accreditation, with over 15 years' healthcare experience behind me. What I know is that clinical credibility makes a wellness proposition effective, but commercial rigour makes it viable. I've spent my career learning to hold both at once. That's the opportunity I bring, whether it's medical leadership or wellness strategy.
The mission I care about across all of it is the same. Bringing real, evidence-led wellness into the whole of modern life; the spaces we live in, the services we access, the products we create. Wellness shouldn't be boxed into a doctor's appointment, single product or spa. It belongs in our homes, workspaces, hotels, gyms and digital tools we hold in our hands and the products we use daily.
This is the wellness experience, and the opportunity is huge.
If you're building any part of that, I'd love to hear from you.
